Lyrics to Drops of Jupiter by Train
Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey
But tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way
To see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated?
Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar
And then you missed me
While you were looking for yourself out there?
Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey
She checks out Mozart while she does Tae-Bo
Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey
Now that she's back in the atmosphere
I'm afraid that she might think of me as
Plain ol' Jane told a story about a man
Who was too afraid to fly so he never did land
But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance
To dance along the light of day
{ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/t/train-lyrics/drops-of-jupiter-lyrics.html }
And head back to the Milky Way?
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind?
Was it everything you wanted to find?
And then you missed me
While you were looking for yourself out there
Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you
Even when I know you're wrong?
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze-dried romance
Five-hour phone conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had, and me?
But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance
To dance along the light of day
And head back toward the Milky Way?
But tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way
To see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated?
And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar
And then you missed me
While you were looking for yourself?
And did you finally get the chance
To dance along the light of day?
And did you fall for a shooting star?
Fall for a shooting star?
And now you're lonely looking for yourself out there
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey

Journal-Britney Spears Concert
Hello anybody who is reading this! So this saturday I went to the Britney Spears concert. I loved it! I had lots of fun and she is an amazing performer my favorite song she sang was Piece of Me. I think that Britney Spears isn't exactly a role model but in a weird way she is, this woman who had a crisis a few years ago bounced back and is better than ever. She is a reminder that change IS possible!

Journal-Pet peeve.
Pet peeve. I think that everybody secretly has one even if they don't notice or admit it. Mine is when people are cherry pickers, example: when someone eats all the marsh-mellows in your lucky charms. That will really get me in a bad mood but, then again who likes lucky charms with out the charms? Another pet peeve of mine is when people say "I hate when someone does...." and they always do it, I know I have probably said it once or twice but, when other people say it they sound stupid and sometimes ignorant.

Education Editorial. (Corrected)
Train, educate, instruct, discipline these are all synonyms to one simple word, school. Some people hate it, some people love it, others regret it. Attending school is a Human right which entitles everybody to “free and compulsory” education. Currently there are 121 million children who are stripped of their rights to education. “Education is a powerful tool by which economically and socially marginalized adults and children can lift themselves out of poverty and participate fully as citizens.”-UNESCO. Not only should education be available to every man woman or child, but it should also be required by law world wide. Education should’t be a choice much less a privilege.
Education will many times determine the outcome of your life. Most jobs will not hire you without a college degree much less, without a high school one. This leads to unemployment which is another huge world wide issue, 270 million adults are unemployed as of 2010. A study in 2005 shows an astounding 771 million adults cannot read, write or calculate. Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names. Although it may seem, that everybody has a choice if they want an education many times this is not the case. There are very few public schools that are good in third world countries, and private schools can be very expensive. Also many of these children are not even given the chance to study and are forced into child labor. Unemployment leads to poverty, according to Unicef 22.000 children die due to poverty each day. Lack of education is a problem that needs to be solved to be successful later on.
To reach the goal of universal primary education by 2015 10.3 million additional teachers would be needed. Although the amount may vary depending on where but in the US a 2007 study found that teachers are paid an average of $34.06 an hour. This means that it would cost many millions of dollars to afford all of these teachers. There are many ways that we can cut back such as not spending so much money on weapons. Less than 1 percent of what we spend on weapons each year, would get every child in school by 2000 and there are still 121,000,000 children without an education. Things like weapons are keeping children from receiving education. This fall term over 49 million students are entering elementary and secondary schools in the United States. While in Democratic Republic of Congo 4 out of every 5 children do not attend school. These children are the future generation we are raising, proper schooling is extremely important if not, necessary.
Having not only an education, but a good one is vital. A good education provides you with the tools necessary to make a positive affect in society. Nowadays having good schooling is more important than before. With the increasing technology in the world we live in today, it is accentual that the people of tomorrow need to know how to maneuver such advanced equipment and this is only reachable with proper education. Even blue collar jobs are requiring more complex understanding and reading and writing skills. Learning and knowledge is the best gift that anyone could ever give.
Hopefully one day every child will have their rights given back to them. That they will all be able to receive a good education and follow their dreams. Wether its being an astronaut, writer or a lawyer with hard work, school, and many late nights doing work these dreams can and will be accomplished.

Lack of Education Essay
Train, educate, instruct, disipline these are all synanoms to one simple word, school. Some people hate it, some people love it, others regret it. Attending school is a Human right which entitles everybody to “free and compulsory” education. Currently there are 121 million children who are stripped of their rights to eduaction. “Education is a powerful tool by which economically and socially marginalized adults and children can lift themselves out of poverty and participate fully as citizens.”-UNESCO. Not only should education be availibe to every man woman or child, but it should also be requiered by law world wide.
Lack of education is a problem that needs to be solved in order to be succesful later on.
Having not only an education, but a good one is vital. A good education provides you with the tools necessary to make a positive impact in society. Now a days having good schooling is more important than before. With the increasing technology in the world we live in today, it is exentual that the people of tomorrow need to know how to manuever such advanced equipmient and this is only reachable with proper education. Even blue collar jobs are requiring more complex understanding and reading/writing skills. Learning and knowledge is the best gift that anyone could ever give.
Hopefully one day every child will have their rights given back to them. That they will all be able to recieve a good education and follow their dreams. Wether its being an astronaut, writer or a lawyer with hard work, school, and a lot of late nights doing work these dreams can and will be accomplished.

In order to reach the goal of universal primary education by 2015 10.3 million additional teachers would be needed. Although the amount may vary depening on where but in the US a 2007 study found that teachers are paid an average of $34.06 an hour. This means that it would cost many millions of dollars to afford all of these teachers. There are many ways that we can cut back such as not spending so much money on weapons. Less than 1 percent of what we spend on weapons each year, would get every child in school by 2000 and there are still 121,000,000 children without an education. Things like weapons are keeping children from recieving education. This fall term over 49 million students are entering elementary and secondary schools in the United States. While in Democratic Republic of Congo 4 out of every 5 children do not attend school. These children are the future generation we are raising, proper schooling is extremely important if not, necessary.

Literary Techniques
A literary technique is a rule or guideline that is used in literature. Some are:
Symbolism
is the "use of specific objects or images to represent abstract ideas" (It has to be something you can touch, feel hold etc)
Example:
In the movie Pochahontas the wind represents her mom who has passes away. Also it is symbol of peace
Foreshadowing
is when the author hints that something might happen but, without saying it directly
Example:
In cinderella the step mothing gives her a angry and mean (evil) glare, which gives you the hint that she is going to do something bad to cinderella.
Flashback
is when the or a character in a story goes back to a memory (interupts a memory)
Example:
In the lion king simba has a flahs back of his father's death i the middle of an argument with his uncle.
Atmosphere
is when the setting of the story determines the mood or feeling of emotions in tat scene
Example:
In a very goofy movie goofy's son leaves for college, once he has left the house seems sadder, the setting changes.
Plot twist
is when there is an unexpected action or thing that occurs sometimes they can be foreshadowed with small hints and clues.
Example:
In the movie bambi, he and his mom are happily and peacefully together when SUDDENLY there is a hunter who kills his mother. You don't expect it at all!
Digressive time: is when the story moves from subject to subject like flash backs and flash forwards.
Progressive time: when an author writes in order, or chronologically (forward)
Suspense: when a story or scene causes you to build up anxiety while awaiting a descion or outcome.

Style we are using. (with partner)
This is the style that me and Camila Toro are using for the project. Check out her blog http://cngenglishblog.edublogs.org/
Dark Side:
Pros- People can see what happens when they don’t have an education 2. How they end up in life 3. Many consequences that lead from lack of education
Cons- 1People don’t see the bright side of having an education 2They can’t Look at it as a privilege! 3. People will just get afraid of not having an education
Consequences:
Pros- People can know what would happen to them if they do not have an education. 2. They will think that this may happen to them someday. 3 They will get scared and try to avoid this.
Cons- 1They see the consequences, but they do not see the privileges of having one. 2. They won’t believe this really happens; exaggeration. 3. Won’t know the important information.
Hope:
Pros- 1How school and education opens many doors for you in the future. 2. How they can get far by having an education. 3 Inspire the people who think education ain’t cool, to change their minds
Cons-They don’t know what it takes to have an education and end up being successful in life. 2. Won’t know the facts and the important information of education. 3 May see these things in a bad way.
Examples:
Pros- They show you that this things really happen 2. give you real examples 3 This way they will know that this isn’t a joke, it really occurs.
Cons- Some examples show that people are still happy 2. Will not tell them the complete information, other side of story. 3. Won’t know about how education is good for you
Famous People:
Pros- Show how people we all know got were they are by education. 2. Get inspired by famous people. 3. See how these people succeeded in life.
Cons- Some famous people don’t have good educations. 2. They will know that not all the reasons of succeeding is education. 3. Famous people without education will give an opposite effect in the persuasion.
We have chosen to do is the Dark side. We chose the dark side as our style because we have many resources who could help us giving examples and showing them the consequences of lack of education. This way, people will see the dark side and inside this category they will see examples and consequences.

Commercial
I watched a very funny pepsi commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40DykbPa4Lc&feature=related
This commercial I think that the style they used was funny/happy. They made me laugh but, also feel bad for the little boy who couldn't do anything right, until he had a pepsi. They made you belive/gave you the idea that with lots of practice and a pepsi you can do anything! They also made it belivable with traditional music, the scenery and the costumes were both very well done. The commercial also made the product very proactive and now I feel like drinking a pepsi! I really liked how they incorporated humor and a lesson with this commercial.
Ethos: They made it believeable by putting very elaborate and traditional costumes, scenery and music. (Made it feel like it took place in Nepal.)
Pathos: They "chanalled" my emotions by making me feel sorry for the sad, and lost boys face and confusion.
Logos: The commercial also made you understand that a pepsi won't just magically help you do things you also have to work at it. (It made it make sense/Logical)

Preposition Game.
I would like to do a sort of Jeopardy style game.
The class would be divided into 4-5 teams. And there would be 3 catagories Time prepositions,Place prepositions and Direction preposition sition Each catagory would have 5 levels for points 100, 300, 500, 700, and 1000. With the role of a dice we decide which team picks first. The first team to write the answer and raise there hands get to answer. If they get it right they get to pick the next catagory and for how many points. However, if they get it wrong any other team can answer and the team that got it wrong you take away the amount of points the question was worth. The team at the end with the most points wins.

What is Style?
I think that a style in writing is the way you write. Your word choice, the way you express yourself with writing and how you do so. Also it is sort of the theme you use, wether your writing happily (happy topic) or sadly (sad topic). How you want your reader to feel really defines your style if you want to make him feel sad you might choose a sad topic to write about, with complex words and good descriptions/detail. You might want to make the reader imagine and feel the pain that something or someone is going through (make them feel like they are a part of the story). This is my opinion on what style is!

Notes on video watched in class (Wild Horses)
Techniques that I saw used in the video were:
Music- Dramatic/sad to make me feel sorry for the horses
Experts/Famous People- They had a famous artist and Sheryl Crowe (cool people) who care about the cause and make you want to care about it also.
Pictures/Video- The video showed how the horses are slaughtered and killed brutally make you mad, and don't show what they do to people's farms.
Why you should care- They show the wild horses like a part of American heritage or culture hence, by killing them you are killing american history.
Statistics/facts- In the last 100 years horses had gone from 2,000,000 to 30,000
This video does a great job making you want to stop the killing of these wild horses, they really made me feel a sad about them and mad at the farmers for killing them.

What makes something persuasive
There are many different strategies or tactics to making something persuasive. Depending on the topic or thing you want to persuade the reader/people about you may use different things. For example if you want a reader/spectator to feel sad about something, you might use sad pictures, videos or other "moving things". Voice is also a very important element, if you want people to pay close attention you may take softly and slowly, or if you are excited you might speak rapidly and exaggerating words or phrases. Also the colors of what your presenting you might want to make something to draw attention or stand out by using bright colors. Adding music can effect the mood, sad song-sad happy song-happy! These are some thing that I think play a big part in making something persuasive or persuade you.

Brainstorming with group
*Dark Side*- Pascuala’s story
Pros- People can see what it like when they don’t have an education. Be greatful
Cons- people don’t realice how lucky we are to have education. Look at it as a privlege!!!!
Consequences- how people end up.
We are choosing this one because it shows a perspective that is really tough, also some people aren't aloud or parents take them out of school to work like Pascuala. This a subject really close to me and my partner! People take things for granted that are vital in everyday life.
Pros-Show that being a highschool dropout is definely NOT cool!!!
Cons-See consequences but, not privleges or how you can advance in life with a good education.
Hope-
Pros-How school and education can get you to suceed in life. (opens doors and oppurtunities)
Cons- You have to be driven/dedicated to something.
Examples-
Pros: Show consequences of not having education, the Jobs that you could get, places you could life
Cons- People are still happy although someone may not be very rich they can still be happy
Famous People
Pros- many succesful people have all had good education
Cons- many succesful people have had no eduaction too.
Lack of Education
Millions of children every year don't have the oppurtunity to recieve proper education. This is a global problem that leads to many other preoblems such as unemployment. Also this is a human right that is violated every day. There is no reason with the technology and resources we have today, for these low resoursced children to not be able to study.
People should be very concerned of this problem because it is the future generation which we are raising now. These children who are more and more evryday add on to poverty in the world which is also a big problem nowadays. Not only does this violate the human right for education but, it is unjustiffied for as the children that are not recieving education end up badly.
Some facts about these are that eduacation is a human right, more than 70 million students are not recieving prooer if at all eduaction.

Characterization of a Character
The main character of this novel as I have mentioned before is Skeeter (Ms Eugenia). At the beginning of this novel Skeeter is shown as one of the ladies of high society Jackson, Missisippi. Member of the bridge club (cards) etc. As the story goes on you see that Skeeter is different from the rest in the sense that her priorities and what is important to her is different than how they are obssesed on getting married, or their clothes or that everything has to be perfect. Skeeter is an aspiring writer/journalist but, in the meantime she is stuck writing an advice column for the local paper. Skeeter becomes much more accepting of people; she becomes very close to Aibileen (Elizabeth's (friends) maid) Also Minnie who Hilly Holbrook one of her best friend hates. When Hilly came out with the idea of installing separate bathrooms for the help, Skeeter though that this was stupid and pointless. (She though that people should be treated the same). Skeeter goes from being someone who went with the flow to someone who stands up for what they believe in.
Summative Self Assesment
Character:
Brooke
Looks:
Blonde hair, green eyes, tall, olive skin tone, skinny
Ambition/What she wants to be:
Zack;s girlfriend
Worst Enenmy:
The truth
Best friend:
Jackie
What she carries in her pocket:
Halls, and a picture of her and her best friend
Deep Dark Secret:
She is in love with her best friend’s boy friend
What she lost:
Her diary which contains her deep dark secret
How I want the reader to feel about Brooke:
Envious because of her looks, popularity and also intelligent (she’s the full package). Also be sort of dissapointed of her for liking her best friend’s boy, but at the same time feel sorry for her. And lastly be proud of her for facing the truth and being honest.
Plot:
Exposition- Brooke and Jackie are introduced as most popular and pretty girls, setting is deerpath jr. high
Rising Action- Alethia finds out that Brooke is in love with her best friend's boy friend and is ashamed. Plays trick on Brooke by sending roses and a mysterious note
Climax: Brooke gets cut by the roses and her finger turns a rainbow of glowing colors, frightened she feels that she must tell Jackie how she feels.
Falling Action- Jackie is understanding and forgives Brooke they both decide that neither of them will date Zack.
Resolution- Alethia comes down from the heavens telling Brooke how proud she is of her, Brooke finally understands the message and decides to always be honest with herself and others.
What middle school problem I solved:
Being dishonest with yourself and the person you're supposed to trust the most. I solved it by making Brooke realize that if you are really best friends that they'll forgive you always, and that you must be honest with yourself before you can be with any one else.
Myth Elements:
My myth was a myth because of some special things I added such as, Alethia the greek goddess coming down and talking to Brooke, Brooke's finger turning different colors when she cut herself with the rose thorn.
Editing:
I added and took away many over used words and tried to find new ones to fit, I had to fix a lot of run-on sentences, and incorrect punctuation. Also I added more details about my characters.
I think I should get a 4 because I worked through all the steps to get this grade :)
How my character develops.
In my myth Brooke and Alethia’s Words of Wisdom Brooke who is the main character is the one that you see the most change. Brooke starts out as the most popular girl in her school, with no insecurities or worries. But, ever since her best friend Jackie was dating Zack Brooke couldn’t help but feel love for him. Brooke spends her days thinking about him worried that maybe one day someone would realize her scandalous and forbidden crush on her best friend’s boyfriend. When recieving the most beautiful roses one afternoon and a note that said “truth fears no questions”. Brooke began to wonder if this guy was actually worth suffering so much. Brooke had called Jackie because she couldn’t take it anymore. They both decided that neither of them would date him, they now understood that their friendship was more important. After having an encounter with the greek goddess of truth, Alethia, Brooke realized that she should not have to hide anything especially from her best friend. Brooke went from the top of the food chain, to hitting rock bottom. And in the end she found her place in the world.
Defenitom
Digressive time:
When things happen out of order, flash backs, future
Progressive time:
When the author uses stages moving forward in time. (chronologically)
Suspense:
Creates an emotion (buliding the feeling of anxiety). Events leading up to something, events begin to build up. Things that add to suspense like music, scenery (suprise),

Evaluation of the Author.
Evaluation of the Author.
In my opinion the author, Kathryn Stockett did an excellent job on character development. She made how you felt about the characters strong emotions. Either you love them or you hate them or you feel bad for them. This novel made me laugh, cry, and be mad. It also opened my eyes to a different perspective, on how you may not think something is offensive to someone when it could be very hurtful. Thanks to this book I think twice on how I talk or ask for things or even think sometimes. The author used many different ways of expressing character’s feelings. She would show the story from the point of view of the owner of the house, and the maid, also she showed the differences of how maids were or are treated when there are guests and just alone at the house. I also noticed that Kathryn Stockett uses character’s past to make you feel a certain way about them. Something I thought was very clever. I think that the Author of this novel did a fantastic job on the character development. I would recommend this book to anyone, any gender or age I think that it is very important that people read this book and grasp what it was like in the life of a maid in the 1960’s.
Character Development Plot Element of The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
Character Development Plot Element of The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
Character Development
The novel I read throughout this quarter was The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The character development in the book takes place in many different ways. The author uses many different techniques such as showing the same events, with many different perspectives and points of views. The main characters in this novel are Skeeter, Aibileen, and Minnie. The character that you see most change in as the story develops is Skeeter. Skeeter starts of as one of the usual high society ladies of Jackson Mississippi. Later on in the story you begin to see that her priorities are different form the rest of her friends such as Hilly Holbrook. Skeeter aspires to be a journalist for a big paper which was considered a joke for women at this time. But, she starts out writing answers to questions for a local magazine. She gives advice on cleaning cooking, etc. For help on her column she asks her friends’ maids for help. Skeeter is different from any of the other (white) ladies in he story. The author makes you admire her bravery and her not caring of what other people think about her. Skeeter has a long time relationship with Stuart which ended when Skeeter told him that she was writing a book. Exposing all of her friends, telling the world the truth about a maids life working with these women. Skeeter became close with her friend Elizabeth’s maid Aibileen. When helping her to write her advice column. Later on Skeeter asks Aibileen for help on her book. Aibeleen is a loyal and very loving character. The author makes you love her by the way she treats Mae Mobley (the girl that she takes care of). Also her will to help Skeeter, shows her loyalty towards people she cares about such as Minnie and Skeeter. Minnie makes you laugh, cry and love her at the same time. The author makes Minnie a back talker and a sassy maid. Which makes you love her even more, because she isn’t afraid of anybody or anything. Minnie is the kind of person who gives her honest opinion wether people want to hear it or not. And I admire her for that, although I know that some people may think she is way out of here league.
Plot Elements
This novel takes place in Jackson Mississippi, in the 1960’s. It revolves around the three main characters that were mentioned above. Skeeter, Aibileen, and Minnie. Aibileen and Minnie being the maids of Skeeter’s friends Elizabeth and the mother of Hilly Holbrook who is the antagonist of the novel. Skeeter had always known these two but, had gotten closer to Aibileen when asking for advice on her columns in the local paper. When Hilly Holbrook began with the idea of making separate bathrooms for the help or maids. (Because they thought that they carried diseases that could get them sick) Skeeter was against this idea. She thought that It was ridiculous and began seeing things from another point of view. This is the beginning of the conflict which is Skeeter’s secret plan to write a book about working from the inside, exposing all of the stay home moms of Jackson. When Skeeter’s friends realize how much time she spends chatting with their maids suspicions begin to rise. Skeeter begins to be discriminated and treated like an outcast. Things really get heated when Skeeter finally gives the book to a publisher and they love it! In the book all of the names were changed but, it still took place in Jackson. There is a lot of talk in the United States about this book, who was written by anonymous. When Hilly Holbrook realizes the book is about her, and her friends she explodes. But, she knows she can’t say anything because then people will know that it is about Jackson. And everybody would know all the terrible things she had done. People in Jackson look at Skeeter like she’s a trader and talk behind her back (I think that many people secretly knew but no one said anything). The resolution is when Skeeter is offered a job in New York, and tells Aibileen and Minnie about it, she is worried that something might happen to them but, they are so happy for Skeeter and insists she take the offer.

My 3 comments on my peer's novel projects
1. Comment on Camila Toro's blog.
Woah, I really like how you talked about the characters and how they developed throughout the story. Your explanations for the plot and character's development, give for people who have never read harry potter and those who have a base for the story. Your writing gets people thinking and imagining. Great job! (I couldn't comment on her blog but, here is the link to her blog check it out to see if you agree with me!!http://cngenglishblog.edublogs.org/2011/10/02/character-development-and-plot-elements-of-novel/)
2. Comment on Sophie Steck's blog
I totally agree with you on describing Jenifer! (I also read this book) I really liked how you show examples from the story that you use to give the reader an idea of how they are. I also like how you gave a breif but good description of the secondary characters; Martha and Clara. I agree with marianne that it would be nice if showed changes in the characters throughout the book a bit more. Check out Sophie's blog!! http://dolcevida-sophie.blogspot.com/2011/10/character-analysis-on-novel-for-quart-1.html?showComment=1319151329886#c5146150032020049134

Explaining why at times the characters do or act the way they do or feel how they do! Great job mane

My Audience Behavior Today
Today in class we finished watching Her Majesty. At first I thought the movie was sort of boring so I didn't really pay attention the class before instead I spent my time day dreaming and talking :( (the worst audience behavior). But, this class I started to become interested in the movie, and I will admit that I would whisper at times. Overall my audience behavior was good. I have to work on not commenting or laughing so loud in some scenes. (How can you control laughter when her brother catches her fantasizing about her teacher?!) I'm happy that I've improved from the beginning of the year but, I still have some work to do!
The Worst Audience Behavior
The worst audience behavior in my opinion is talking. Especially when their is someone else performing or speaking. This is not only disrespectful to the performers but, also to other people around you. When you are talking, you distract others from listening. They will most likely begin speaking also and create total chaos! You also can miss important things and then ask questions afterwards which get behind the whole class and is also very irritating. These are some of the many reasons that talking is the worst audience behavior!
If I Were a Goddess
If I were a goddess I would give the world a little bit more confidence. Confidence means alot for a people's selfesteam, even the people who seem to be the most confident, are insecure at times. Everybody seems to be missing some confidence to accomplish their dreams and goals. With that little push people will not be so afraid to stand up for what they believe in. To make their dreams come true and accomplish even the most difficult goals. Giving people more confidence can make people feel better about themselves and reach out to others!

Myth Rough Draft
She felt her hairy arms brush against her hairy forehead and regretted ever sending gossip blasts, she wanted it to be day light so that she could have her blonde hair, carmel skin and green eyes back. Instead of the god-awful turning into a gorilla after 5 p.m. For being a "gossipmonger" was getting old. When she got out of the shower she had to put a whole jar of gorilla snot gel in her hair, (the curse had affected frizz apparently.)
When Gaba arrived at bubble jr. High, she saw skeeter. His black wavy hair and deep blue eyes shined in the sun. GABA and skeeter had been friends since they joined spy club in third grade. GABA was still looking for her observation book witch shenhad lost just a week ago. It contained all of her juicy stories and well, obvservations.

Story Elements: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Main idea
This novel is about Dorothy and her friends whom she meets along her journey. It also has to do with taking things for granted, for example at the beginnign of the story Dorothy's life is described as dull an boring and as the story moves along all she can think about is being back home with her Aunt and Uncle in Kansas. Also her friends; the scare crow who claims to have no brains but, is really the smartest of them all, the tin man who says he has no heart but is most loving. The lion who longs for bravery while he the most brave. All of these characters didn't realize what they had until they lost it like Dorothy and the tin man. Throughout the story you see how the characters evolve and have a broader, more open mind. Like in real life too, the farther, or longer you go along life's path the more you learn and accept.
Plot
Exposition:
The main characters are:
-Dorothy
-Scarecrow
-Tin-man
-Lion
Rising Action:
Dorothy lands in Oz when a tornado in Kansas blew her and totto in her house, she crushes the wicked witch of the west. When she arrives she is greeted by a good witch who tells her that the only peron that can get her back home is the great wizard of Oz. The witch tells her to follow the yellow brick road. She kisses her forehead; so that she will be protected along her journey. The second main character introduced is the scarecrow who Dorothy helped down from his stake, he told Dorothy he would accompany her to ask for brains. Then they came across the tin man who was so rusted he could not move. Thy oiled him and he went along with them to ask for a heart. Finally they met the Lion who craved bravery and they all set out on a quest to see the wizard. After overcoming many challenges, they arrive in the land of Oz, the wizard tells them they must kill the wicked witch of the east to have their wishes granted.
Setting:
The story takes place in Kansas at the very beginning, and throughout in the wonderful land of Oz!
Climax:
When they set along their second quest the wicked witch won the battle by calling upon the flying monkeys who then captured Dorothy and her friends. Dorothy ended up becoming her slave w one day she was cleaning and she accidently spilled water on the witch and melted her! Dororthy was so happy she went out to find her friends and they all set out back to the land of Oz. When they arrived with prood they had killed the witch, they find out that the great wizard is nothing but a fraud. The scarecrow, tin man, and lion still insist on having their wishes granted. So the wizard had a makeshift ways of making them realize what they already had inside of them! As for Dorothy they plan on making a hot air balloon and floating up into the sky to see where it takes them, for how is how the great wizard landed in Oz. But, the plan fails whrn totto jumps out of the basket and Dorothy goes to retrieve him the balloon has already flown up into the sky!
Falling Action/ Resolution:
When all hope is gone for Dorothy, Glinda the good witch shows up and tells her to click her heels together three times while saying there's no place like home and as Dorothy does this se wakes up in Kansas surrounded by her family and realizes it was all just a dream.
Connections
I can understand how Dorothy felt suddenly being in a different world with different kinds of people and different ways of doing things. When I moved from Chicago to Colombia it sort of felt like I was a stranger in this big world. Also I can't literally connect but I can imagine how terrible it must of felt or feel not having a way to get back home.
