Music on paper can be called math

Well all written adds up to one

Notes and rests are like numbers,

It makes sense just like lightning and thunder

That break the song into fractions

Wow what a satisfaction!

If you are playing guitar or piano

Math relates without a matter

The number of buttons or strings in it

Have a number of scales to fit within

Music videos are full of math

Even if you’re only watching half

Behind the scenes with your camera

You are measuring to fit what you want

Note and rests are fractions

Either being a half or a quarter

Mix and match them to form a song

Even if yours sounds like a bong

That if you break in pieces

Adds up to 4

Yeah that’s right I’m for sure

In music you find patterns

Either with repetition rhyme or result

Something appearing over and over again

Will make the song repeat in your head

Singers are also mathematicians

Well even  Alicia Keys

While practicing her do re mi’s

The tempo tells her when to sing

Math is everywhere sometimes even in the air

When the wind chimes after many times 

you can feel the math on your hair

Rhythm and music is water in a tank

So you can’t separate them thanks

In rhythm you count to sense things up

Well in a song rhythm weighs a ton

Counting in music is fundamental

Up to three or up to four are common measures

How to count you’ve learned in math

But I hope it was when you were 5

Make sure it lasts

Wow! See you’ve learned a lot

On this short but really long song

Next time you sing “twinkle twinkle little star…”
